Day 11 — Weak-Topic Redo
Plan
Date: Fri Sep 18, 2026 · Mode: open book, no timer, no new papers
Inputs: the debriefs from Days 8, 9 and 10 · the Day 1–8 question banks · both cheatsheets
Five papers in three days will have surfaced the same three or four weaknesses repeatedly. Today is the only day in the second week set aside to actually fix them. Sitting another paper today would measure the gap again rather than close it — resist it.
There is no new material and nothing to time. This is the one day of the fortnight where the venv is open and you are allowed to look things up.
Timing
| Block | Time | What |
|---|---|---|
| Triage | 30 min | Read Days 8–10 debriefs. Rank every weak topic by section weight × miss count. |
| Repair 1 | 90 min | Weakest topic: re-read the lesson section, then re-run its lab in the venv |
| Repair 2 | 90 min | Second topic, same treatment |
| Break | 60 min | |
| Repair 3 | 60 min | Third topic |
| Question banks | 60 min | Redo the banks for the days those topics came from — closed book |
| Cheatsheets | 30 min | Re-read the relevant parts of both cheatsheets |
| Debrief | 15 min | Fill in debrief.md |
How to pick the three topics
Rank by section weight × miss count, not by how uncomfortable a topic feels. A shaky §8 (OpenQASM, 6% — about 4 questions) is worth less than a shaky §1 (18% — about 12 questions). Two of the three should come from §1–§5 unless the evidence is overwhelming otherwise.
Cap it at three. Four topics in a day means four topics half-fixed.
How to repair one
- Re-read only the part of the day's
lesson.mdthat covers it — not the whole lesson. - Re-run the lab from that lesson in the venv (
source .venv/bin/activate). Change one thing and predict the output before running it. Getting a prediction wrong here is the point of the exercise. - Redo that day's
question-bank.mdquestions on the topic, closed book. - Write the rule in one sentence in your own words. If you cannot, you have not fixed it.
Targets
- Every topic you repair should end the day with a one-sentence rule you wrote yourself.
- Redone question-bank sections at ≥80% — these are questions you have seen before, so the bar is higher than a fresh paper.
- Do not open Papers 06–10 today. They are the last honest measurements you have left; spending one now costs you a data point on Days 12–14.
