Day 11 — Weak-Topic Redo

Debrief

Fill this in the evening of Fri Sep 18. Tomorrow you are back on the clock with the two hardest half-length papers.

Topics repaired

The rule, in your own words

One sentence per topic. Written from memory, after the repair — not copied from the lesson.

Still unfixed

Anything you tried to repair today and could not. Being honest here is worth more than a clean-looking page: an unfixed §1 topic changes how you spend Day 13.

Misses by section

Count every wrong answer — and every right answer you were not sure of — against the section it came from.

§ Section Wrong Unsure
1 Create quantum circuits (18%)
2 Perform quantum operations (16%)
3 Run quantum circuits (15%)
4 Sampler primitive (12%)
5 Estimator primitive (12%)
6 Visualization (11%)
7 Retrieve and analyze results (10%)
8 OpenQASM (6%)

Miss log

One row per wrong answer. The third column is the one that matters.

Q What the answer was Why my answer looked right

Trap check

Tick any that caused a miss today. These are the repeat offenders across the whole course — a tick here twice in one week means it goes on Day 11.

  • Little-endian bit ordering (counts keys, Pauli labels, qubit indices)
  • Sampler needs measurements; Estimator must not have them
  • Observables need apply_layout after transpilation
  • Primitives require ISA circuits — untranspiled circuits are rejected
  • resilience_level is Estimator-only
  • data.<creg> naming — the attribute is the classical register's name
  • Suppression (DD, twirling) vs mitigation (ZNE, TREX, PEC)
  • Optimization level semantics (0–3)
  • Job vs batch vs session
  • Entangled state ⇒ plot_bloch_multivector shows a zero vector

Top 3 weak topics

Be specific — "Estimator" is not a topic, "ZNE noise_factors vs extrapolator" is.

Ready for Day 12?

Papers 06 (visualization + QASM) and 07 (the hard one — every question has a trap) are tomorrow. Anything you specifically want to re-read tonight?
